Sleep Solutions Program Receives National Accreditation



Beloit Health System and NorthPointe Sleep Solutions program was recently awarded accreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). This distinction shows that Sleep Solutions has demonstrated a commitment to the highest quality of care in the treatment and diagnosis of sleep disorders. Additionally, Dr. Patel received accreditation for Home Sleep Testing from the AASM.
The Sleep Solutions program is directed by Dr. Sushrut Patel, Pulmonologist, who sees patients at Beloit Clinic. Dr. Patel is also Board certified in Sleep Medicine. He is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. The Sleep Solutions program has been active at Beloit Hospital for over 22 years, however recently underwent the additional improvements & qualifications to reach the gold standard in accreditation.
“We see patients for many types of sleep disorders, some of which can be very detrimental to their health,” states Dr. Patel. “After a thorough evaluation, we recommend some patients have the overnight sleep study, while others can be treated without this step.” Overnight sleep studies are generally performed at the NorthPointe facility. “We have also received full accreditation to perform Home Sleep Testing in selected cases, from the AASM”.

NorthPointe Wellness Receives National Fitness Certification



March 25, 2014:  NorthPointe Wellness in Roscoe recently became only the third facility in the state of Illinois certified through the Medical FitnessAssociation. Medical Fitness is the leading organization dedicated solely to medically supervised outcomes and accountability-based fitness facilities. This certification is a significant step forward in the health delivery for northern Illinois/southern Wisconsin community.
"This certification sets NorthPointe Wellness apart from others as it shows we meet the high standards imposed upon fitness medically integrated facilities,” explains Ryan Messinger, Director of NorthPointe Wellness. "This certification is definitely a proud accomplishment for our staff which demonstrates their unrelenting commitment to fitness and safety.  Our members are truly training with the best of the best!"

NorthPointe Wellness members have access to highly knowledgeable staff who are dedicated to assisting members achieve results in a safe way.  Additionally, the staff is trained to respond to any emergency medical situation that may occur and properly activate our emergency medical response system that ties to Immediate Care who are also on-site.

“We have ten degreed/certified Fitness Specialists on staff in addition to more than 30 group exercise instructors,” adds Messinger. “In addition to working with members on their fitness goals, this staff also facilitates many specialized programs such as the Next Steps program; an
8-week physician- referred program for individuals transitioning from or managing a medical condition who need additional support.  Specialized programs are offered to the community, as well as to members.

Other programs include: Cancer Fitness, Cardiac Fitness, Diabetes Fitness, Functional Fitness, Orthopedic Fitness, Pre-Hab Fitness, Pulmonary Fitness, Transitional Care, and Weight Management.  The programs include pre and post assessment, 14 supervised exercise sessions, ongoing support from the Fitness Specialists, as well as a follow up report sent back to the individual's medical provider.

Mulder Selected to Lead State Nurse Leadership Organization



Doris Mulder, Vice President of Beloit Health System, has been selected as President of the Wisconsin Organization of Nurse Executives (WONE) for a two year term.  The organization supports and promotes strong nursing leadership with over 250 statewide members.

As President, Mulder shares the vision of shaping healthcare through innovative and expert nursing leadership. Beloit Health System has a number of nursing directors who are active in the state organization and Beloit has incorporated some of the state’s mission into local strategic plans.

“I find that networking and learning from others in my position are two of the most rewarding parts of joining this state organization,” states Mulder who has been a member of WONE since 2009. During that time she has been a board member for two terms, chaired the membership committee and also served as a mentor for other nurse executives.

WONE goals include providing education to nurse leaders, encouraging BSN and advanced nursing degrees, collaborating with other disciplines to improve patient care, and educating legislators on patient care issues.
