Beloit Health System will Assist Community Health Systems
January
8, 2015…. Beloit Health System is prepared to further explore an affiliation
agreement with Community Health Systems of Wisconsinwhich owns and operates Beloit
Area Community Health Center (BACHC). Community
Health Systemsis currently in the middle of Chapter 11 Restructuring.
“We
are very interestedin helping our area residents who have no health insurance
or limited coverage get the healthcare they need,” stated Tim McKevett,
President and CEO of Beloit Health System. “The loss of services at Beloit Area
Community Health Center would have a potential negative impact on the health of
our community. We have been working to
form an affiliation with BACHC and they have recently made the appropriate
changes for us to move forward with this process.”
The
results of a recent Community Health System operational review by an
independent consulting firm, Guidian Healthcare Consulting out of Georgia,
produced some troubling results. “We have analyzed the problems unveiled by the
consulting firm and the potential solutions recommended to help,” added
McKevett. “We feel they have taken appropriate actions to make a future
affiliation possible. We are willing to
assist and work with Community Health Systems in an attempt to keep the
facility open for the residents of our Community that currently utilize the
Center and to facilitate future growth.”
Julie
Sprecher, Chief Administrative Officer of Community Health Systems, Inc., was
named the interim CEO by the CHS Board in early December. Sprecher is looking
forward to working with Beloit Health System in an attempt to provide the
community high quality healthcare. “Most of our patients will access Beloit
Health System at some point and by working together we can better ensure
continuity of care. We appreciate Beloit Health System’s willingness to
consider options.” Board Chair, Teresa
Henderson stated that “CHS is still committed to our original mission of
providing quality healthcare to Beloit residents regardless of income. We look forward to a bright future working
with Beloit Health System.”
“We
are pleased that we’re able to facilitate options for Beloit Health System to
work with Community Health Systems,” stated Jim Harney, President of Harney
Management Partners, the corporate advisory company involved in the review. “We
believe this will provide the best chance to ensure future success.”
