New Medicare Advisor Now Offering Assistance at Beloit Health System

Do you have questions about your Medicare benefits? If so, Beloit Health System is pleased to announce a new service to help you sort out your reimbursements – a new Medicare Advisor. Tami Schindler, who is well-versed in Medicare processing, is now taking appointments to help you with your Beloit Health System Medicare benefits.

Tami will also make referral s to additional programs and resources in the community, as well as help you understand the changing world of Medicare. Beloit Health System recruits Dr. Peter Marks to Expand Heart and Vascular Services

Peter H. Marks, M.D., Cardiothoracic surgeon, is now a full time employed physician for Beloit Health System. Effective January 4th, Dr. Marks’ practice will be located on the fourth floor of the hospital in the Heart and Vascular Center. Dr. Marks has performed cardiac surgery at Beloit Hospital for the past seven years through his affiliation with Rockford Health System. Since 2007, he has been a key member of the Heart and Vascular Team showing outstanding clinical results.

Dr. Marks, coming to Beloit Health System after a long and distinguished career in Rockford, will now be available on a full time basis for all cardiac surgeries and cardiothoracic procedures. In addition to the expanding Beloit Health System’s cardiac surgery capabilities, Dr. Marks will expand services with his thoracic surgery specialties such as lung resections, esophageal procedures, pulmonary diseases, and cancer surgeries. Physician is Specialist in Hospice and Palliative Medicine

Dr. Shelly Johnsen, Family Medicine physician with Beloit Health System, recently passed the 2012 Hospice and Palliative Medicine Certification Examination. As a result of this, the American Board of Family Medicine awards her the Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Johnsen previously passed this exam in 2007 and has been working with patients in this specialty area for several years. Dr. Johnsen, who also works with Beloit Regional Hospice, currently follows patients in nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the area. She is a key member of the newly formed Palliative Care Committee for Beloit Health System, and sees patients both in and out of the hospital.

Cold weather brings carbon monoxide risks

Dr. Marks has performed cardiac surgery at Beloit Hospital for the past seven years through his association with Rockford Health System.  Since 2007, he has been a key participant of the Center and General Group displaying excellent medical results.
